adjustments

some final disappointments

colorado state and baylor were both demoted but you weren't watching them this week, were you? you want to know what happened at the big games. here we go.

further notes

"unwinfeated": bowling green @ umass

we started off with a little treat to see if umass could finally pull off one win to save this nightmare season, and they were dismissed with prejudice by bowling green into the hall of infamy, joining last year's kent state. so long and try better next year.

i hear they have a word for this kind of thing: texas a&m @ texas

yet again texas a&m falls short in their rivalry game played for the right to be the real texas, and this time it ends their undefeated season and their hopes at an sec championship. gruesome scenes were seen on the broadcast and aggies may have feared for their lives. bevo desires nothing more than the defeat of his greatest enemy. except a playoff bid that texas will now incessantly beg for. ugh.

ohio state overcomes its greatest obstacle: ohio state @ michigan

ryan day had a problem, see. he could do anything he wanted except beat michigan in the game, and despite being the champions, a loss in the game this year would surely haunt them and almost eliminate even the joy of defending their title. but they at last persevered and became the first team in a decade to keep michigan out of the end zone for an entire game. and now there can be only one undefeated team, and it will be the big ten champions.

there's probably some kind of metaphor for this too: penn state @ rutgers

you know that one where the lion gets thrown off the cliff? that kinda happened to penn state this year except they lived to tell the tale. they lost the middle six games of the season, but those first and last sets of three wins are just enough to qualify for a bowl game at the end of the season. even if that last one was just against rutgers, penn state did not completely embarrass themselves this year.

what do you mean you don't have a champion: oregon state @ washington state

oregon state was finally proved mortal for the... a lot of the time once again by losing the conference rematch, leaving the pac 12 tied. both teams won their home game, and both of those games were not that great. at least next year this conference will be forced to expand or die.

bowl eligibility: qualification

all teams on these lists teetered on the edge until their final game, when their fate was decided between a chance at glory and nothing. here are the teams that succeeded under ultimate pressure. congratulations to:

*yeah, delaware and missouri state are probably not making it. there appears to be a surplus of qualified teams this year even without them, so pending the creation of like five new elements for teams to battle over in a bowl, these teams will just have to share an oatmeal raisin cookie and a pat on the back or something.

bowl eligibility: elimination

we now remember those that slipped at the last moment and must endure the cold winter alone. they are:

scorigami recognition

however, delaware does have the honor of topping the final regular season list. congratulations to:

the belt

notre dame takes the belt into the postseason and earns five points. did we really think anything else would happen? now we must see whether notre dame is allowed into the playoff.

what is to come

we take a moment to look at the conference championships and question some choices.

yeah, duke is a very odd pick. teams with better records should be invited before these other tiebreakers. also the mountain west going to computer tiebreakers only to choose the same matchup for the third year in a row is weird. and it seems like these games don't entirely matter anymore but also do. oh well.

finishing up

we'll see when i get enough content to update this again. enjoy the postseason. i've been gorkmo and this has been college football.
